Japan seems to be Jalop paradise.

Poking around Goo-Net, I found something that I've never seen on the site before...

Kinja'd!!!

A Lada Niva, and not just any Niva, but a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . And it's not the only one.

The one shown above is a 2013 3-door with just 350km on it, and the same seller has a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! one as well.

Both are gasoline powered 4X4 manuals with AM/FM/CD stereos.

2013 3-door for US$20,900 , brand new 5-door for US$31,090 .

Kinja'd!!!

This country is filled with really cool cars. Take this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for example. It's not a low mileage one, in fact there's about 176,000km (over 109,000 miles) on it, but it's in really nice shape.

Kinja'd!!!

Also, check out those air fresheners.

Kinja'd!!!

How about some hot hatch? Try this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It's low mileage (53,000km/just short of 33,000 miles) and it's got a manual transmission.

Kinja'd!!!

And lastly, some more hot hatch fun, and one that you can probably buy and ship to America, a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ! Or, I should say, a Lancia A112 Abarth!

Kinja'd!!!

It really is amazing what you can find in Japan. Perhaps someone should create a series of reviews where they go around Japan, randomly test driving whatever interesting cars they can find. That would be awesome.

A 2013 car that looks like it was built in 1987...

Fascinating.

Make that 1977, the year it was introduced. It has been in production virtually unchanged.

You can buy a brand new one, in Germany, for €9990 ($11.2k). This is already including 19% VAT! There's even this awesome 'Jagd' (hunt) version. All on Lada.de

"1987" is generous. With the technology inside, I'm going to give it late 1970s.

I thought that's what Kat Kallahan did for Jalopnik.

It was designed in the late '70s, but it doesn't have nough chrome and the bumpers say late '80s.

I've always liked the niva. Simplicist with off-road capabilities. Sounds like a winner to me. Only downside is it's Russian so I can't yell merica while driving it.

Japan isn't Jalop paradise, it's car paradise.
